Court authorizes Class Action Against Sirius XM Canada Inc.
Following the Superior Court of Quebec’s judgment authorizing the class action on behalf of Quebec consumers against Sirius XM Canada inc. (“Sirius XM”), which alleges that Sirius XM illegally increased users’ subscription fees without providing a proper notice in breach of the Consumer Protection Act, a notice to class members of the authorization judgment was published in French, in La Presse +, Le Soleil, and in English, in The Gazette.
The class action seeks the reimbursement of unlawful increases in subscription fees since September 1, 2013, which are presently estimated to be $100 million, in addition to punitive, and exemplary damages.
