Class Action against ADT Security Services Canada Inc. and TELUS Communications Inc. for their failure to provide maintenance services

Update:  February 20, 2026 – Application for Authorization to Institute a Class Action

Kugler Kandestin has filed an Application for Authorization to Institute a Class Action against ADT Security Services Canada Inc. (“ADT”) and TELUS Communications Inc. (“TELUS”) on behalf of all ADT customers in Québec whose contracts for residential alarm services included coverage for the cost of maintenance, repair and/or replacement of their home security equipment (the “Extended Limited Warranty” or “Quality Service Plan”), and who remained customers after the acquisition of ADT by TELUS on November 5, 2019.

The Application alleges that ADT and TELUS failed to provide the maintenance services set out in the Service Agreements they had with customers, yet continued to charge for those services. The proposed class action seeks the reimbursement of fees charged to members of the class, which class counsel estimates to be $65,320,000.00. The proposed class action also seeks punitive damages in an amount of $10,000,000.00.
